NEW RELEASE – Cones from a Cop

Chad Abram, Chief of Prairie du Chien Police Department and Culver’s Crew

The Prairie du Chien Police Department and Culver’s of Prairie du Chien have teamed up for a “Cones from a Cop” program.

Over the course of the year, the police department has hundreds of contacts with citizens who truly go out of their way to support the mission of the police department in keeping Prairie du Chien a safe and peaceful community for everyone.  The police department has struggled with recognizing these folks when many of them want no recognition at all.  The police department has been looking for ideas to provide positive reinforcement for behaviors that support our goals and what better way to reward someone than with fresh frozen custard?  With the support of Culver’s in Prairie du Chien each officer will now carry tokens provided by Culver’s for a free dish or cone of frozen custard as a way of saying, “thank you.”

“This past weekend is a perfect example.  Our officers responded to a traffic crash and members of a volunteer Emergency Medical Services crew stopped to aid anyone injured in the crash.  These folks didn’t stop because they wanted custard, they stopped because they wanted to help.  Well, now we have an opportunity to say, Thank You, and give them custard.” said Chief Abram.

The police department’s relationship with Culver’s dates back to our football cards we ordered several years ago with their support.  We will continue to look for ways to provide positive outcomes and increase the positive behaviors our department witnesses throughout the year.
