Parks and Recreation and Forestry Department – Fall Fishing Derby Hooks Kids!

On a spectacular sunny Sunday afternoon at Washington Street Park the PdC Park & Recreation Department hosted their annual Youth Fall Fishing Derby. Thirty Eight kids ages 3-14 were on hand to catch a lot of fish, win prizes, and have fun!

Park & Rec Director Mike Ulrich wanted to tell everyone it was great to see so many parents/grandparents involved with the kids in teaching them this lifetime skill and he has also noticed more youth taking advantage of all the great areas we have available to fish in PdC. He also wanted to thank our supporters of this Derby with Starks Sport Shop leading the cause with their multiple very generous donations to assist kids with getting and keeping  them involved in fishing at a young age. Thanks also goes out to the PDC Rod & Gun Club members who were on hand to assist with angling help, the Wis DNR who donated many items for the kids, and special thanks goes out to long time department Fishing Educators  Bob Witt, Lee Thomas, and Ivan Hoffland who continue  to help get the kids and seniors  “hooked on fishing” and have fun doing it!
