Marquette Road Project Update

Description: The work associated with this project consists of removals, grading, concrete

pavement, asphaltic surface, concrete curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, storm sewer, sanitary and water main utilities, signing, pavement markings, and all incidental items necessary to complete the project as shown on the plans and\ included in the proposal and contract.

Traffic Impact: STH 35 will be closed to through traffic with a signed detour route along USH 18 to East Iowa street in the northbound direction and East Wisconsin Street to USH 18 in the southbound direction throughout the duration of the project. During stage 1, construction will be completed from the Wells Street intersection to the Mooney Street intersection with local access within the construction zone only.

The Mooney Street intersection will be open to single lane traffic during stage 1 construction at all times and will be open to two lane traffic at the end of each working day. The Wells Street Intersection will be closed during stage 1 construction however the Kwik Trip entrances off of both STH 35 (west) and Wells Street (north) will be open for traffic throughout stage 1. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM TURNING ONTO STH 35 FROM WELLS STREET AND VICE VERSA AS WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING CONFLICTING TRAFFIC PATTERNS WHICH IS LEADING TO NEAR ACCIDENTS. If you need access to your residence or a business within the stage 1 construction limits and there seems to be poor driving surfaces, please kindly advise a contractor or one of the project engineers and they will take care of the situation as soon as possible. It is anticipated that stage 1 work will be complete on June 12th.

Work Completed:

Gerke Excavating has completed installing most of the stage 1 sanitary sewer and water main. The crews will begin connecting sanitary laterals and water services to local businesses and residences later this week or early next week. If your business or residence will be affected during the lateral and service connections the contractor will be making door‐to‐door visits (if they have not already) to notify everyone of the scheduled work. This is necessary in order to complete the connection of the sewer laterals and water services to the newly installed mains.

Anticipated work schedule:

Installation of the stage 1 storm sewer system began this week. The majority of the storm sewer mainline is installed with only mainline laterals and Wells Street remaining. Grading operations will take place following the completion of all the underground construction, most likely late next week.
