POSITION DESCRIPTION

EMPLOYEE STATUS:  Full Time COMPENSATION LEVEL: D.O.Q.

WORK HOURS:  Flexible, 40 hours minimum per week

 

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under general supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director performs duties involving planning, developing, coordinating, implementing and supervising of recreation, fitness and aquatic programs at Hoffman Hall Recreation Center and the Wacouta Aquatic Park.

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Supervisory responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  • Staff instruction
  • Staff scheduling and allocation
  • Coordination of aquatic activities
  • Review employee work performance and make recommendations to Director of Parks & Recreation
  • Oversee maintenance of Hoffman Hall and Wacouta Aquatic Park

 

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma; college degree preferred
  • 3 to 5 years related experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Certified in CPR, First Aid, AED or ability or ability to achieve, recertify every 2 years
  • Certification as Certified Pool Operation (CPO), or ability to achieve and recertify every 5 years
  • Certified Life Guard Instructor Trainer or ability to achieve
  • Certified Lifeguard or ability to achieve
  • Certified Water Safety Instructor or ability to achieve

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain a community volunteer list for staffing purposes
  • Knowledge of and ensure compliance with all federal and state laws, codes and regulations and all applicable guidelines for aquatics facility
  • Maintain accurate accounting records of revenues and expenditures for Hoffman Hall and Wacouta Aquatic Park
  • Prepare requisitions and maintain supplies necessary for operations at Hoffman Hall and Wacouta Aquatic Park
  • Prepare and assign work details for paid staff and volunteers
  • Ability to perform duties or any task assigned to subordinate staff consistent with any licensing or certification requirements and/or maintain programming operations
  • Monitors attendance of assigned staff
  • Submit staff payroll to Director for review and approval
  • Advise Director of staff and programming concerns
  • Supervise daily operations of Hoffman Hall and Wacouta Aquatic Park
  • Ensure that all staff is trained and maintain all required certifications for staff in the areas of Life Guard, CPR, AED, swim lessons instructor and First Aid
  • Facilitate and/or instruct programming related to water activities provided at Hoffman Hall and Wacouta Aquatic Park
  • Oversee Maintenance of Hoffman Hall and Wacouta Aquatic Park pools, which includes but is not limited to;
    • Assures Hoffman Hall and Wacouta Aquatic Park pools are in compliance with all federal, state and local laws, ordinances and requirements
    • Daily chemical testing and reporting
    • Scheduling maintenance and repair of pool systems and perform minor repairs
    • Maintenance of pool chemicals
    • Backwashing pool filters and
    • Other miscellaneous tasks
  • Schedule, coordinate and monitor events at Hoffman Hall and Wacouta Aquatic Park
  • Oversee custodial duties to maintain cleanliness of Hoffman Hall and Wacouta Aquatic Park
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as directed
