REGULAR WORK HOURS: 40 hours per week; 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Rotating work week will include weekends and some holidays.
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the wastewater treatment facility superintendent, the wastewater operators assist in the operation and maintenance of the treatment facility and the city’s collection system and lift stations. The position is for a Wisconsin DNR certified grade 2 wastewater operator. The individual is encouraged to obtain a grade 4 certification during the course of his or her employment. The person must have or be willing to obtain knowledge of the operations of a wastewater treatment facility. The overall duties of the position include, but are not limited to; plant operational procedures, adjustments and maintenance, laboratory work, building and grounds maintenance, collection system maintenance and repairs, records keeping, inventory control, industrial sampling, Bio-solids management and disposal, snow removal and grass cutting
QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of wastewater treatment and collection system duties. Willingness to learn the job duties and responsibilities, attend classes to enhance the job performance and obtain the required Wisconsin DNR wastewater licenses. Knowledge of all state and federal regulations as they pertain to Wastewater systems. Ability to accurately record lab data and maintenance information. Ability to prepare clear and detailed reports. Possession of CDL preferred or ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) including air brake and tanker endorsements within 6 months. Willingness and ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees, city officials and staff and the public. High School diploma or GED. Vocational school wastewater classes or previous knowledge and skills
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: Prior experience in a wastewater treatment facility or a municipality, computer skills, construction and electronic skills.
